Pune, 25 Sep – After taking a brief break, the monsoon has returned with full force, drenching Pune and leaving residents to wonder if the monsoon is on its way out or coming back for another round. The city has been witnessing torrential rain since this morning, with dark clouds looming over the skyline and heavy showers turning roads into rivers within minutes.

From the heart of Pune to its suburbs and rural outskirts, the heavy rain has caused widespread disruption. Waterlogging has been reported in low-lying areas, and traffic congestion is a common sight, exacerbated by ongoing metro construction across the city. Areas such as Shivajinagar, Erandwane, Sinhagad Road, Baner-Balewadi, Satara Road, Katraj, and Hadapsar are facing heavy downpours, with rainwater flooding streets and disrupting daily life.

Weather Alert: Pune Under Red Warning!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for several areas in Pune district for Wednesday (Sept 25), warning of extremely heavy rainfall. Neighboring districts such as Nashik and Ahmednagar are also under an ‘Orange Alert,’ signaling heavy to very heavy rainfall. For Pune, an ‘Orange Alert’ remains in place for the next two days following the red warning, advising residents to brace for more downpours and potential disruptions.

With more rain on the horizon, authorities have urged residents to stay alert and avoid waterlogged areas as the city continues to grapple with the ongoing monsoon.
