Baramati, 25 Sep– In a recent lecture held at Tuljaram Chaturchand College, Baramati’s Taluka Agriculture Officer, Supriya Bandal, emphasized that the role of the Agriculture Department is not only to guide farmers on crop production but also to help them explore new avenues in marketing and processing agricultural products. Bandal highlighted how these initiatives are transforming farmers from being mere suppliers of raw materials to becoming entrepreneurs.
The lecture, organized by the Department of Economics under the theme “Contemporary Economic Developments,” focused on the various subsidy schemes offered by the Maharashtra Government’s Agriculture Department. Around 122 students participated in the session, where Bandal provided detailed insights into schemes related to agricultural mechanization, crop insurance, irrigation facilities, farm ponds, and fruit orchards.
Agricultural Schemes Driving Entrepreneurship
During her address, Bandal explained how the government’s schemes, such as subsidies for mechanization and irrigation, are making a significant impact on farming practices. She encouraged students to view agriculture not just as a traditional occupation but as a business opportunity with immense potential. She fielded several questions from students, offering clear and practical answers.
The event was chaired by Vice Principal Dr. Sachin Gadekar, who urged students to blend theoretical knowledge with practical learning. He further stressed that, in a country like India, which is predominantly agricultural, the youth should approach farming with a business mindset. The college’s Principal, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Vice Principals Dr. Ashok Kalange and Dr. Gadekar, along with Registrar Abhinandan Shah and Economics Department Head Dr. Samadhan Patil, also guided the event.
The program began with a welcome speech by Dr. Samadhan Patil, and coordination by Prof. Amar Nandgude. The session was anchored by Dr. Rahul Dhumal, while Prof. Sandeep Sable delivered the vote of thanks.
