Pune, 9 October: In a shocking incident in Pune, a construction businessman reportedly took his own life due to financial disputes related to a housing project. The tragedy occurred in the Dhayari area on Sinhagad Road. The deceased, identified as Kishore Manohar Bettigiri (52), was a resident of Padmanabh Bangla, Raikarnagar.

His wife, Savita (48), filed a complaint at the Sinhagad Road police station, leading to charges against his partners and sons. The accused include Surendra Baburao Laigude, Sangram Surendra Laigude, and Sagar Surendra Laigude, all residents of Dhayari.

According to police reports, the Bettigiri family originally hails from Karnataka but had settled in Pune over the past few years. Kishore Bettigiri had been in a partnership with Surendra Laigude in the construction business, working on the Rajveer Avenue housing project in the Barangini Mhala area of Dhayari. The Laigudes reportedly lent Bettigiri ₹91 lakh through Swati Consultancies, of which he returned ₹80 lakh. Following this, the Laigudes repeatedly pressured him for the remaining amount, allegedly halting the project work multiple times. They reportedly threatened Bettigiri with dire consequences if he failed to pay.

Struggling with depression after these incidents, Bettigiri ultimately ended his life by hanging himself. His wife, Savita, provided a detailed account to the police, including a note written by Bettigiri before his suicide. The investigation is being conducted by Sub-Inspector Shrikant Sawant.
