Mumbai: After several days of dry weather and soaring temperatures, the monsoon has made a welcome return to Mumbai, starting from Wednesday morning. The city experienced light to moderate rain throughout the day, refreshing the atmosphere and providing much-needed relief to residents.

Weather forecasts predict light rain on Thursday, followed by a heavier downpour with gusty winds on Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded rainfall of 3 mm at the Colaba station and 8 mm at Santacruz on Wednesday. Following a spell of hot weather, the maximum temperatures have dropped significantly, with Colaba reaching 30°C and Santacruz 30.6°C, a decline of 4 to 6 degrees. (Mumbai Rain Update)

This year, the monsoon had an early arrival but saw a temporary lull during August and September, leading to an increase in humidity levels. This spike in humidity had left many Mumbaikars feeling uncomfortable. However, the onset of rain has brought a refreshing change to the city. (Mumbai Rain News)

Despite the initial predictions indicating no rain for the week, a low-pressure system formed over the Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast, increasing the likelihood of rain and storms in the state. The IMD has advised that areas such as Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri should expect rain in the coming days.
