Pune News: In the run-up to the Maval Assembly Election, sitting MLA Sunil Shelke has raised concerns about attempts to create a divide within Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Shelke alleged that certain individuals are trying to distance key leaders and workers who are aligned with Ajit Pawar. Although Shelke did not explicitly name anyone, his remarks appear to be directed at internal party members. (Sunil Shelke News)

This comes just days after Bapu Bhegade, a leader from Ajit Pawar’s camp, reaffirmed his intent to contest the Maval Assembly seat. Bhegade firm stance has sparked speculation about whether Shelke’s comments were aimed at him.

Shelke’s Stance on Candidacy

Addressing the issue, Sunil Shelke said, “The leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi are standing firm on their chosen candidate for the Maval constituency. We worked together during the Lok Sabha elections, securing a significant victory. However, the final decision on the Maval Assembly Election candidate is yet to be made. We are advocating for the seat to remain with the NCP. Along with myself, there are several others who are vying for candidacy.”

Shelke also clarified that he will not pressure anyone for a nomination. “Until the candidacy is announced, I will not approach any senior leader or lobby for the position. My sole focus is on the betterment of the party,” he added. Shelke further commented on Bhegade’s aspirations, acknowledging that it is within everyone’s constitutional right to seek candidacy, but ultimately, the party’s high command will make the final decision. Concerns About Internal Struggles

Sunil Shelke also addressed the internal challenges within the NCP. “There are forces trying to weaken Ajit Pawar’s faction by dividing its leaders and supporters. We will not allow such efforts to succeed. If anyone tries to cause division within the party, we will expose their names publicly,” Shelke warned. He also emphasized the need for unity, regardless of who secures the nomination.

What Did Bapu Bhegade Say?

Recently, Bapu Bhegade, who serves as a vice president within a state board, made his position clear. Bhegade stated, “I have no interest in holding a board position; I want the Maval Assembly seat. I am confident that I will secure the nomination, and if the outcome is different, my supporters and I will reassess the situation.”

The Road Ahead for the Maval Assembly Election

As the Maval Assembly Election 2024 approaches, the contest between party loyalists and new contenders is heating up. The final decision on who will represent the NCP in the election could potentially shape the political landscape of the region. Both Sunil Shelke and Bapu Bhgade remain key figures in this battle, as their supporters await the party’s final decision.
