Columbus Marathon 2024: The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon returns for its 44th year, bringing thousands of runners, spectators, and supporters to the streets of Columbus. As one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Columbus Marathon & Half Marathon on Sunday, October 20, 2024, will celebrate health, wellness, and personal victories while raising funds for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Marathon Route Breakdown

Both races start at North Bank Park, with the full marathon heading through Downtown, Bexley, and German Village before passing iconic Columbus locations like the Short North, Ohio State University, Upper Arlington, and Grandview Heights. The half marathon covers the first half of this route, looping back after Bexley and German Village, with both races finishing at North Bank Park.

Road Closures & Parking Info

From Friday, October 18, road closures begin in Downtown Columbus and last through Sunday evening. Key streets like Long Street, Spring Street, and Neil Avenue will be affected. Rolling closures will start as early as 4 a.m. on Sunday and reopen by 6 p.m. after the conclusion of the marathon. To avoid delays, spectators and runners are advised to arrive early and reserve parking in advance near the Start/Finish line.

COTA Reroutes: At least 17 COTA transit lines will be impacted by reroutes on race day, affecting over 800 transit stops across Downtown, German Village, Bexley, and OSU. Riders should expect delays and consult updated COTA route information to plan their trips.

  • Saturday, October 19: Jesse Owens 5K & 1 Mile (11 a.m.), Kids’ Run (12:30 p.m.), Health & Fitness Expo (9 a.m.-6 p.m.)
  • Sunday, October 20: Marathon & Half Marathon start at 7:30 a.m., Wheelchair Division at 7:25 a.m.
