Jerome Baker: The Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans have agreed to a high-profile linebacker swap, sending Jerome Baker and a fourth-round draft pick to the Titans in exchange for Ernest Jones, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
This move marks Baker’s second team change in 2024 after joining the Seahawks from the Miami Dolphins. The 26-year-old linebacker has been a key figure for Seattle, starting all five games he’s played this season and tallying 30 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, and two passes defensed. Baker, now set to play under Mike Vrabel’s defensive system, will provide the Titans with much-needed depth and experience at linebacker as they navigate a difficult 1-5 start to their season.
Ernest Jones, on the other hand, is heading back to the NFC West after being traded to the Titans earlier this season from the Los Angeles Rams. Jones was a productive force for Tennessee, starting five games and recording 44 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two passes defensed. The Seahawks will be looking to leverage Jones’ versatility and physical presence as they make their push in the NFC West.
This trade comes on the same day the Titans finalized the deal that sent DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, signaling a significant roster shift as Tennessee looks to reshape its team amidst a rough start to the 2024 season.
Jerome Baker is now set to become a crucial part of the Titans’ linebacker corps as he enters the final year of his contract. Jones, meanwhile, gives Seattle a seasoned defensive player who has established himself as a reliable and significant linebacker over the course of his career, including his Super Bowl-winning stint with the Rams.
