Walmart Bakery Oven: A tragic incident unfolded at a Walmart in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where a 19-year-old employee, Gursimran Kaur, was found dead in the store’s walk-in oven. Kaur, who worked in the bakery department, was discovered by her mother, who also works at the same Walmart location. The discovery occurred on Saturday night, Oct. 19, after Kaur’s mother had been unable to locate her daughter for over an hour and grew concerned.

According to a fundraiser initiated by the Maritime Sikh Society on behalf of Kaur’s family, Kaur and her mother had worked at the Walmart for two years. Desperate to find her daughter, Kaur’s mother searched throughout the store, calling her daughter’s phone repeatedly. Eventually, her search led her to the bakery’s walk-in oven, where she made the heartbreaking discovery.

Halifax Regional Police were called to the scene at 6990 Mumford Rd. around 9:30 p.m. and found Kaur deceased in the bakery’s large walk-in oven. While investigators have not yet determined the cause or manner of her death, they confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, leaving unanswered questions about how this tragedy occurred.

In the wake of the incident, Walmart has temporarily closed the Halifax store and stated that their focus is on supporting their employees. “We are heartbroken, and our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family. Our priority is to support our team members during this difficult time,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement. The Nova Scotia Department of Labour
