Pune, 30 Oct: The countdown to the Maharashtra Assembly elections is heating up, with a surge of candidate nominations across key constituencies in Pune. In the Wadhgav Sheri constituency, a total of 24 candidates have submitted their nominations, including a father-son duo and a female candidate. Election officer Sachin Baravkar oversaw the orderly submission of 34 nomination papers amid a bustling atmosphere.

Between October 22 and 29, 56 candidates retrieved 112 nomination forms from the election office, reflecting a strong interest in the Wadhgav Sheri seat. Notable political parties represented include the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and various independent candidates. Observers anticipate a fierce contest, with most candidates filing multiple nominations, indicating strategic positioning for the upcoming elections.

Similarly, in the Khadakwasla constituency, the nomination process concluded with 28 candidates filing a total of 39 nomination papers, including one female candidate. Under the guidance of election officer Dr. Yashwant Mane, the nomination process was conducted smoothly. The last day for candidate nominations saw several last-minute submissions, showcasing the competitive nature of this election cycle. Analysts predict a robust electoral fight, with the final candidate list set to be released after the withdrawal period ends on November 4.

The Hadapsar constituency has witnessed the submission of 30 nomination papers, with 24 candidates officially in the race. Key players include candidates from major parties such as the Mahayuti, Maha Vikas Aghadi, and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Additionally, several independent candidates are making their mark, including former members of established parties who are running against the backdrop of shifting political alliances.
