Sarah Cunningham: The art world is mourning the loss of Sarah Cunningham, a talented British painter who was reported missing over the weekend. Tragically, a body believed to be that of the 31-year-old artist was discovered near Chalk Farm Underground station in north London. She had been last seen in Camden around 3 a.m. on Saturday, wearing a black vest top, a skirt, and Converse trainers.

In a statement, Camden Police confirmed that emergency services were called to the station early Monday morning after finding “a casualty on the tracks.” While the circumstances of her death are still under investigation, authorities are treating it as unexpected and do not currently consider it suspicious. Sarah’s family has been informed and is asking for privacy during this difficult time.

Sarah Cunningham was known for her vibrant paintings and expressive style, which often celebrated the beauty of nature. Born in Nottingham in 1993, she studied at Loughborough University and later graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 2022. Her work was recognized in various exhibitions across Europe and North America, showcasing her unique approach to art.

Cunningham’s paintings were characterized by bold colors and dynamic forms, often exploring the connections between humans and nature. She described her creative process as a way to construct and then deconstruct the landscapes she painted, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all living things.

Her representation by Lisson Gallery brought her significant recognition, and she was set to have a solo show, “The Crystal Forest,” in London this November. The gallery expressed its deep sorrow over her passing, describing her as a “talented, intelligent, and original artist” whose work touched many people.

Friends and supporters of Cunningham, including Jamie Klingler, co-founder of the women’s safety group Reclaim These Streets, have thanked those who helped in the search for her and urged everyone to respect her family’s privacy.
