Rob Dillingham: Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, former college basketball stars at the University of Kentucky, have officially signed shoe deals with global sportswear giant Nike, according to ESPN’s Nick DePaula. The announcement marks the next step in their professional careers as both players now wear the iconic Nike “swoosh” after their one-year tenure together at Kentucky. Though the terms of their contracts remain undisclosed, rookie sneaker deals generally extend beyond one season, setting the stage for future growth.
During their time at Kentucky, both Sheppard and Dillingham showcased their talent in Nike footwear, making this partnership a natural fit. The two were key players in the Wildcats’ roster, and their shared experience with Nike further strengthens their bond with the brand as they begin their NBA journeys.
While neither Sheppard nor Dillingham has seen significant playing time early in their rookie seasons, their potential remains high. Sheppard, the third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has played in all seven games for the Houston Rockets but is averaging just 3.1 points in 9.3 minutes per game. Dillingham, taken eighth overall, made his debut later in the season and has seen limited action, with a season-high of 21 points in his most recent game.
Both players, however, have the talent to make a lasting impact on the court, and should their rookie seasons progress positively, they may even one day join the ranks of NBA stars with their own signature Nike shoes, following in the footsteps of former Kentucky standout Devin Booker.
With a shared commitment to Nike and an exciting future ahead, Dillingham and Sheppard are poised to continue their basketball careers with a strong partnership off the court, setting themselves up for future success both in the NBA and in the world of sports marketing
