Is the Stock Market Open on Veterans Day? As Veterans Day approaches on Monday, many Americans are preparing for the federal holiday that honors the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. But for investors and those keeping an eye on Wall Street, there’s a big question: Will the stock market be open on Veterans Day?

Despite Veterans Day being a federal holiday, both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will operate under their normal trading hours. That means you can still trade stocks as usual on Monday. However, the bond markets will observe the holiday, and they will be closed for the day, affecting certain financial transactions.

Upcoming Stock Market Closures in 2024

If you’re planning ahead, there are only two more dates this year when the U.S. stock market will be fully closed:

Thanksgiving: Markets will be closed on Thursday, November 28. They will also have an early closure at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, November 29.

Christmas: Markets will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, with an early close at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 24.

Veterans Day, which commemorates the end of World War I on November 11, 1918, is a day to honor and celebrate America’s veterans for their service and sacrifice. While many federal offices and some businesses will close in observance, the stock market will remain open, giving investors the opportunity to trade as usual.

Remember, even as you track market movements, take a moment to reflect on the significance of Veterans Day and the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.
