Billionaire Tesla owner Elon Musk’s post on WhatsApp has caused a stir. This has increased the tension of WhatsApp users around the world. What happened with that, Elon Musk posted on X and claimed that WhatsApp is not secure. He also criticized Signal in this post. In this post, Elon Musk has asked users to use Service X Chat. Musk’s post comes in the wake of WhatsApp’s ongoing legal case in an American court.
A group of users filed a lawsuit
According to a Bloomberg report, the case has been filed by a group of users living in countries such as Australia, Mexico and South Africa. These users claim that there is almost no security on this platform. And Meta employees can access private messages whenever they want.
Users’ messages can be read in real-time
The mainstay of the lawsuit is witness testimony, which claims Meta’s internal systems allowed employees to bypass encryption through an internal request process. According to the 51-page complaint, Meta employees allegedly could bypass encryption by sending tasks using the company’s internal system. The lawsuit claims that once the request is approved by the engineer, a visitor is available at the employee’s station, which can be used to read the user’s messages at a later time using the user’s unique ID.
There is no technical proof of the claims
No technical evidence has yet been adduced to support these claims in this case. WhatsApp has always maintained that encryption keys are stored only on the sender’s and recipient’s devices, making it impossible for the company to decrypt and read messages.

Meta denied the allegations
Meta has denied all these allegations. A company spokesperson told PCMag that the claims are false and misleading. Meta further stated that WhatsApp has been end-to-end encrypted using the Signal protocol for over a decade. The case is a baseless fabrication and legal action has been taken against the defendant’s lawyer.
