Carl Granders: New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Carl Granderson recently made headlines not just for his performance on the field but also for his reaction to the firing of head coach Dennis Allen. In the Saints’ Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Granderson recorded four tackles, including a half-sack, marking his first sack since early in the season. Despite his individual performance, the Saints struggled as a team, losing their seventh consecutive game, which ultimately led to Allen’s dismissal.

After the loss, Granderson took to social media, sharing a broken-heart emoji along with the song “Let It All Work Out” by Lil Wayne, hinting at his feelings about the situation. However, his tone shifted dramatically the following day. He posted a cheerful photo of himself smiling, captioning it with “How I walked in work today” and sharing the upbeat song “Good Day” by Nappy Roots. This change in mood sparked speculation among fans and analysts, suggesting that Granderson was expressing relief or even happiness about Allen’s firing.

It wasn’t just Granderson who seemed to have mixed feelings about the coaching situation. Other players, including former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas, also reacted to the news. Thomas tweeted “There it goes,” and referenced posts about Derek Carr, the quarterback, being involved in previous coaching changes. Another former player, A.T. Perry, tweeted, “God don’t like ugly,” further indicating that there were some unresolved tensions within the team.

As the Saints move forward under interim head coach Darren Rizzi, it appears there are players who are ready for a fresh start. Granderson’s strong performance this season, which includes 34 tackles and 3.0 sacks, shows that he remains committed to his role on the team. With the change in leadership, the Saints are hoping to turn their season around, and Granderson’s contributions will be crucial in achieving that goal.
