Pune News: In a tragic incident from Pune, a 27-year-old man from Chakan took his life by jumping into a deep gorge in Lonavala’s Rajmachi area, following distress over a love affair. The deceased, identified as Suryakant Ramdayal Prajapati, was found 370 feet deep in the valley after a rescue team located his body on Wednesday, guided by a brief two-second video he had sent to his family just before his death.

The Incident

Suryakant Prajapati, a resident of Chakan, was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with a woman from the same area. However, he became increasingly suspicious that she was seeing someone else, which led him to feel severe emotional distress. On October 9, he left his home without informing anyone, and his family grew worried when he did not return the next day. They filed a missing person report at Chakan Police Station.

Technical Clues Lead to Discovery

The police initiated a search for Suryakant, using technical methods to track his last known location, which pointed to Lonavala. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, including heavy rain in the area, the search was conducted in phases. During this time, the police uncovered a critical clue – a two-second selfie video Suryakant had recorded before his death, showing the lush greenery and the valley behind him. He had sent this video to his mobile phone at home before he took his final step.

Rescue Operation

The police, along with a specialized rescue team from Shivdurg, launched a search operation based on the video and location data. The rescue team worked meticulously, comparing the background in the video to the surroundings at Rajmachi Gorge, which eventually led them to his body. Early on Wednesday, they located Suryakant’s mobile phone a few feet down the valley, and shortly after, the strong odor of a decaying body confirmed the presence of a corpse deeper in the gorge. His body was finally recovered after seven days of intensive search efforts.

Love Affair Led to Suicide, Say Police

The police have confirmed that Suryakant’s death was a suicide, driven by his emotional turmoil over the suspected infidelity of his girlfriend. His family and friends are devastated by the incident, while authorities have emphasized the importance of mental health support in dealing with emotional challenges.

The tragic case has raised concerns about rising emotional distress among youth, particularly in cases of troubled relationships. Police and local mental health experts urge people facing similar issues to seek help before taking such drastic measures.
