Christkind Scholarship: The Carmel Christkindlmarkt has unveiled its 2024 Christkind Scholarship winners, celebrating young individuals deeply connected to German culture and traditions.

“We’re thrilled to recognize such talented and passionate individuals as our Christkinds for this season,” said Maria Adele Rosenfeld, President and CEO of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. “This scholarship honors the tradition of the Christkind and allows us to share Germany’s cultural heritage with our community.”

2024 Scholarship Recipients:

First Place: Hannah Cooper

  • Award: $1,000
  • Background: A student at Ivy Tech Bloomington, Cooper’s family is active within Indianapolis’ German-American Klub, keeping close ties to local German cultural traditions.

Second Place: Amelia Myers

  • Award: $500
  • Background: A Carmel High School student, Myers spent five years living in Germany and is fluent in the language. Her German-born mother has instilled in her a deep appreciation for the culture.

Third Place: Sadie Rexroth

  • Award: $250
  • Background: Also at Carmel High School, Rexroth has German ancestry and has studied the language for three years, embracing her heritage through language and tradition.

As the Christkind Scholarship Program enters its seventh year, the 2024 Christkinds will bring the spirit of the German Christmas season to life at the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, sharing joy, culture, and tradition with visitors from near and far.
