Mumbai, October 12: The annual Dasara Melava of the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction kicked off with fervor today, featuring a notable speech by Shiv Sena leader Sushma Andhare. A Call for Peace and Unity

In her speech, Sushma Andhare urged party members and the public to remain vigilant against communal divisions. “Devendra Fadnavis, lend us your ears. We want Maharashtra to be a place of peace, not one divided by sectarianism,” she proclaimed, emphasizing the importance of communal harmony in the state. Andhare’s words resonated with the crowd as she condemned the political tactics that foster discord among communities.

Highlighting Political Divisions

Andhare pointedly criticized both Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, referencing their roles in creating divisions among various castes and communities. “Today, people from all backgrounds are celebrating Dasara together. Yet, you choose to sow seeds of division,” she stated. Her remarks also included a reference to the recent Dasara gathering by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who called for an end to hatred and a focus on unity. (Dasara Melava Mumbai)

“While Bhagwat speaks of solidarity, the real message must reach those who perpetuate division,” she added, questioning the effectiveness of such calls when they are not acted upon.

Playing the Caste Card

Continuing her speech, Sushma Andhare remarked on the manipulation of caste identities for political gain. “The Maratha and OBC cards are being played to distract the public from real issues,” she noted, indicating that these tactics divert attention from pressing economic concerns.

She emphasized the importance of fostering a spirit of coexistence among different communities, saying, “If hatred is the mindset, then let us advise it to those who lack compassion. We urge you, Devendra Fadnavis, to understand that Maharashtra yearns for peace.”

Questioning Political Accountability

Andhare further criticized the lack of accountability among current leaders, questioning their governance. “Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis have instigated divisions among communities. They fear being questioned about their failures,” she stated. “When we raise questions about their governance, they accuse us of doing politics. But who is truly engaging in politics here?”

Addressing Economic Issues

Highlighting the neglect of economic issues, Andhare lamented, “Villages lack roads, drainage systems, and meters. Where have the thousands of crores gone? You mislead the public with false statistics and neglect discussions about agricultural prices. Instead, you focus on caste-related issues.”
