Pune News- Political circles in Indapur have been buzzing with activity as BJP leader Harshavardhan Patil is reportedly on the verge of joining Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This follows Patil’s recent meeting with Pawar at Silver Oak, Sharad Pawar’s Mumbai residence, sparking rumors that Patil’s switch to NCP is almost finalized.

In a telling sign of the shifting political allegiance, Harshavardhan Patil’s son, Rajvardhan Patil, changed his WhatsApp display picture to an image of the “Tutari” symbol, a key emblem of the NCP. The caption accompanying the image, “What’s decided is set as DP,” further fueled the speculation of an imminent political shift. This, combined with the removal of BJP banners and photos from Patil’s office in Indapur, strongly suggests that Patil’s days in the BJP are numbered.

Political Symbols Vanish as Patil’s NCP Entry Becomes Certain

In recent days, Patil’s office in Indapur had prominently displayed photos of key BJP figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, and Maharashtra leaders Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrashekhar Bawankule. (Indapur Political News) However, these banners have since been removed, signaling the final steps in Harshavardhan Patil’s anticipated departure from the BJP and his entry into the NCP.

The move seems to be a matter of time, as sources close to Patil suggest that only formalities remain before the official announcement is made.

Family Members Signal Political Shift

Following Harshavardhan Patil’s meeting with Sharad Pawar, his children, Rajvardhan and Ankita Patil, also updated their social media accounts, adding fuel to the fire of speculation. The new display picture featuring the NCP’s “Tutari” symbol has gone viral, prompting widespread discussion in political circles. Patil himself has hinted at making a formal announcement soon, likely to occur in a press conference.

Electoral Calculations Behind Patil’s Move

Harshavardhan Patil had been eyeing a run in the upcoming Indapur Assembly elections. However, with the seat currently held by Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP, and Dattatraya Bharne as the sitting MLA, Patil’s chances within the BJP appeared slim. This has reportedly driven him to explore alternative political routes, with joining Sharad Pawar’s NCP seen as the most viable option.

Patil’s potential move to the NCP also signals larger realignments in Maharashtra’s political landscape ahead of the assembly elections, as leaders reposition themselves in search of more secure political footing.
