Marco Angulo: Ecuador international and FC Cincinnati midfielder Marco Angulo has tragically passed away at the age of 22 following injuries sustained in a car crash on October 7.
Angulo, who was on loan to Liga Pro leaders LDU Quito, was involved in a severe accident in Quito, Ecuador’s capital. The crash claimed the lives of two others, including Roberto Cabezas Simisterra and Victor Charcopa Nazareno.
Angulo underwent emergency surgery to relieve head trauma and suffered a lung contusion but succumbed to his injuries after 35 days in hospital.
LDU Quito released a heartfelt statement expressing deep sorrow at Angulo’s passing, calling it an “irreparable loss.” The Ecuadorian Football Federation also paid tribute, honoring him as both a talented player and an exceptional teammate.
Angulo, capped three times by Ecuador’s national team, had a promising career, making 30 appearances for FC Cincinnati and 16 for LDU Quito. His last international match was in June against Bolivia. The footballing world mourns the loss of a rising star whose legacy will endure.
