Pune, 11 Oct: In a shocking incident in the Lonikand area near Nagar Road, Pune, a young man was brutally murdered by his mother and her lover. The reason behind the heinous crime was the son becoming an obstacle in their illicit relationship. The crime took place late Wednesday night.
The victim has been identified as Anil Lalsing Thakur, 30 years old. His mother, Sumitra Lalsing Thakur (55), a resident of Waghmare Vasti, Perne Phata, Nagar Road, has been arrested in connection with the murder. Her lover, Prafull Pundlik Tathod (34), also from the same area, has been charged with the crime but is currently absconding.
According to the police report, Anil’s brother, Sunil Thakur (32), filed a complaint with the Lonikand Police Station. The Thakur family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh and had been working as laborers in the Perne Phata area. Sumitra’s illicit affair with Prafull came to light, leading to frequent arguments between Anil and his mother. (Lonikand News)
On the night of the crime, a heated argument broke out between Anil, his mother, and her lover. In a fit of rage, Prafull and Sumitra physically assaulted Anil and struck him on the head with a large stone. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Anil succumbed to his injuries before any medical treatment could be administered. Upon receiving information about the incident, senior police inspector Pandit Rejitwad visited the crime scene, and Sumitra was taken into custody. Prafull, however, managed to escape and is currently on the run.
Rising Crimes Linked to Illicit Relationships in Pune
This murder marks the third such incident in Pune in the past month, where illicit relationships have led to violent crimes. In a similar case in Karvenagar, a woman and her lover conspired to kill her husband, who had become a barrier to their relationship. The woman had drugged her husband’s meal, after which her lover attacked him with a sharp weapon. In another incident in Katraj, a woman and her lover attempted to stage her husband’s suicide, but investigations revealed that he had been strangled to death.
The latest murder in Lonikand highlights the increasing number of such crimes, raising concerns over domestic violence and moral transgressions in the city. Pune police are continuing their search for Prafull, and investigations are ongoing to bring justice to the victim. (Pune News)
