Pune Crime,15 Oct: Just days after a horrifying gang rape incident at Bopdev Ghat, Pune is once again shaken by a shocking crime. A young couple, Abinayu Chawang and his girlfriend Chingmalai Pamei, were brutally assaulted and robbed while they were out for a stroll at Baner Hill, raising serious concerns about safety in the city.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a group of four individuals, aged between 18 and 20, confronted the couple. The attackers physically assaulted them and, in a terrifying moment, inflicted a weapon injury on Chingmalai’s finger. The assailants stole their mobile phones and other valuables before fleeing the scene. (Pune Crime)

Following the attack, Abinayu and Chingmalai reported the incident to the Chaturshringi Police Station late that night. Authorities have since registered a case and initiated an investigation to apprehend the culprits.

A Wave of Concern for Safety in Pune

This alarming incident has intensified discussions about the safety measures in Pune, especially in the wake of the recent events at Bopdev Ghat, where two individuals were similarly threatened with a knife and subjected to gang rape. The police have arrested two suspects in that case and have conducted extensive inquiries, interrogating around 450 residents from 40 villages and neighborhoods in the vicinity of the crime scene.

As the investigation unfolds, Pune Police are also focusing on individuals with a history of serious crimes, including robbery and sexual assault, in the hill and ghat areas of Pune. The recurrence of such incidents highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures and vigilance in the region.
