Pune, 10 Oct: Authorities are intensifying their investigation into the shocking gang rape incident that occurred at Bopdev Ghat. Police have conducted inquiries into over 450 suspects across 40 villages and settlements in the vicinity. These individuals are known to have a history of serious crimes, including robbery, molestation, and rape, particularly in the hilly areas surrounding Pune district.
The distressing incident took place on Thursday night (October 3), when a college student was assaulted while out for a walk with friends. In response, the police have formed 60 teams dedicated to tracking down the fleeing perpetrators. Over the past fortnight, they have gathered information on 50,000 mobile users who traversed the Bopdev Ghat route, and a technical analysis of this data is currently underway. Authorities suspect that the assailants may have escaped through Saswad, prompting a thorough review of CCTV footage from locations up to 70-80 kilometers away from the crime scene.
