Pune: The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections have been recently announced, but both the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) and Mahayuti alliances are yet to reveal their candidates. In the important Bhosari constituency under the Shirur Lok Sabha seat, sitting MLA Mahesh Landge has already kicked off his election campaign. However, the MVA has not yet declared its candidate for this crucial seat, adding to the growing anticipation.
After the split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), several leaders from Pune district joined Ajit Pawar. However, in the aftermath of the Lok Sabha elections, many local leaders from Pimpri-Chinchwad have started gravitating back towards Sharad Pawar’s camp. Among them is Ajit Gawhane, who is aspiring for the Bhosari seat under the MVA banner. Despite his aspirations, the MVA has yet to finalize its decision for this seat. (Pune News)
There is speculation that both Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena are eyeing this seat within the MVA. However, no decision has been made yet. Meanwhile, Mahesh Landge, the two-term MLA from Bhosari, has started re-engaging with voters and strategizing against his opposition.
This year’s election is expected to be highly competitive in Bhosari. Mahesh Landge, the likely candidate from the Mahayuti alliance, has already begun preparations, but the MVA’s candidate remains undecided. (Pune News Today)
ED Action Adds to Ajit Pawar’s Election Pressure
In a related development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated action in the Pune-based Shivajirao Bhosale Co-operative Bank scam, targeting individuals close to Ajit Pawar. Former chairman of Pune Zilla Parishad’s construction committee, Mangaldas Bandal, is among those facing ED action. This comes at a crucial time, just ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, adding to the pressure on Ajit Pawar’s camp. (Mahesh Landge News)
