Pune, 4 Oct- A spate of sandalwood thefts has been causing alarm in the Wajewadi area of Shirur Taluka over the past two days. Local residents who attempted to stop the thieves faced violent retaliation, resulting in three individuals sustaining injuries. The victims, including a woman, a young boy, and a youth, were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The incidents have sparked fear among the local community. (Pune City News) Despite the efforts of the residents to defend their area, the sandalwood thieves, who appeared to be well-prepared, responded aggressively, launching a counter-attack. Stones were reportedly thrown at the residents, causing injuries.
