Pune, October 3 – In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, a 21-year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped in Pune’s Bopdev Ghat area on Thursday night. The crime occurred when the victim had gone for an outing with her friend.
According to police reports, the incident took place around 11:30 PM. Three unidentified men approached the woman and her friend while they were at Bopdev Ghat. Initially, the assailants claimed to be human rights activists and began taking photographs of the pair. They then threatened the duo and assaulted the woman’s friend, tying him to a tree using his belt and shirt.
After restraining her friend, the attackers forced the woman into a car and drove a short distance before subjecting her to a brutal assault. The perpetrators fled the scene soon after committing the crime.
Pune Police have registered a case against the three unidentified attackers and have launched a massive manhunt. Ten police teams have been deployed to track down the suspects, and investigations are ongoing to bring the criminals to justice.
