Pune, 14th October: A YouTube journalist and his female associate have been charged with extortion and theft after allegedly forcing a pan stall owner in Pune to hand over ₹30,000. The incident occurred in the Yerwada area, and the police are currently investigating the matter.
According to the complaint filed by Subhashchandra Ramavadh Moraya (30), the pan stall owner, the incident unfolded on Friday morning at Bhola Pan Stall near Gunjan Chowk. Moraya alleges that journalist Satish Rathod (42) and his female associate visited his stall, where they assaulted his nephew and brother-in-law. (Pune News)
When Moraya intervened, Rathod allegedly threatened him, accusing him of selling gutka and demanding ₹2 lakh. Rathod then threatened to report him to the police and also insisted on a monthly extortion of ₹10,000. If the demand was not met, he warned Moraya that his business would be shut down. The situation escalated when Rathod reportedly took Moraya to Bundgarden Bridge, where he forcibly took ₹30,000 from his pocket. Rathod has been arrested for questioning, and the police are continuing their investigation under the guidance of Sub-Inspector Jaydeep Patil.
