Dussehra 2024: Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. This significant festival celebrates Lord Ram’s victory over the demon king Ravana and marks the day when Goddess Durga defeated the buffalo demon Mahishasura, according to Hindu scriptures. Dussehra is observed on the tenth day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Ashwin, which falls on October 12, 2024, this year.

Ravana Dahan Time In Delhi 2024

In Delhi and the surrounding NCR region, the Ravan Dahan ceremony will take place on the evening of October 12. The most auspicious time for this ritual is from 5:53 PM to 7:27 PM. Auspicious Timing for Shastra Poojan

Dussehra is also a time for Shastra Poojan, which is performed to honor weapons and tools. The ideal time for this ritual on October 12 will be from 2:02 PM to 2:48 PM, lasting approximately 46 minutes.

Unique Celestial Alignments This Dussehra (Ravan Dahan Time 2024)

This year, Dussehra is particularly special as it coincides with four rare celestial events. The Shravana Nakshatra will be in effect from 5:25 AM on October 12 until 4:27 AM on October 13, deemed very auspicious for festivities. Additionally, there will be a Shani Shash Rajyog in Aquarius, along with Shukra and Budh’s Lakshmi Nayan Yog and the Malavya Rajyog.

Dussehra 2024: A Day for Auspicious Beginnings

Dussehra is traditionally considered an excellent day for manglik (auspicious) activities. It is a favorable time for events like Griha Pravesh (housewarming), construction of homes or shops, naming ceremonies, Yajnopaveet (sacred thread ceremony), Annaprashan (first feeding of solid food), ear piercing, and Bhoomi Pujan (land worship). However, weddings are generally avoided on this day.
