Skate America 2024: U.S. figure skaters Isabeau Levito and Bradie Tennell claimed the top two spots after a thrilling short program at Skate America, the opening event of the 2024/25 ISU Grand Prix season. Levito, just 17 years old, led with a score of 68.43 points, while Tennell, making a strong comeback from a broken ankle, was close behind with 66.99 points. Japan’s Rinka Watanabe placed third with 66.54 points.

Levito, skating to “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, captivated the audience with her graceful yet technically challenging routine, despite a minor under-rotation in her opening combination. “I’m excited to keep working on this program. I love it,” she said, as she sets her sights on the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Tennell’s performance, set to Lord of the Dance, marked her return to elite competition after two surgeries and a five-month recovery period. “I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be able to jump again,” Tennell reflected. Her fist-pumping finish showed her determination to reclaim her place at the top of the sport.

The women will compete in the free skate on Saturday, aiming to secure a spot in the Grand Prix Final in France later this year.
