SSI Recipients to Receive Extra Check in November: Here’s Why

SSI Recipients Extra Check November: In November, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive an extra payment due to a calendar quirk. Normally, SSI benefits are paid on the 1st of each month, but when this date falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are sent out earlier. Since December 1 falls on a Sunday, SSI beneficiaries will receive their regular November payment on November 1 and an additional payment on November 29, which covers December’s benefits. This timing ensures recipients aren’t left waiting until after the first of the month to receive their funds.

SSI payments support around 7.5 million low-income seniors and disabled individuals. The maximum individual benefit is currently $943. It’s important to note that receiving two payments in November doesn’t mean recipients are getting extra money, but rather their December benefit is arriving early. The Social Security Administration (SSA) assures beneficiaries that these adjusted dates are part of an effort to avoid payment delays.

In addition to these payments, all SSI recipients will see a 2.5% increase in their benefits, starting with their December 31 payment, thanks to the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). This adjustment helps recipients keep pace with inflation and rising living costs.

Regular Social Security payments for retirees and others will follow the standard schedule in November. Recipients of retirement benefits born between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive their payment early as well on December 24, due to the Christmas holiday.

For SSI recipients, this November brings financial relief with two timely payments.
