Nashik: The “Ladki Bahin Yojana” has become a significant draw for women across Nashik, resulting in the opening of over 150,000 savings accounts in postal offices. The scheme, aimed at promoting financial security among women, has captured the attention of the middle class, making the postal department a preferred choice for many.

A Popular Choice Among Women

Despite the availability of accounts in various nationalized banks, a substantial number of women have opted for the postal savings accounts. This preference is evident as 150,000 women have chosen to open their accounts in postal offices, reflecting a growing trust in these savings schemes.

Nashik district boasts 55 active postal offices, with 24 located within the city. Women can easily set up savings or India Post Bank accounts with a minimum deposit of 500 rupees. Recently, long queues were observed at the main postal office, indicating the popularity of the scheme. However, the crowds have diminished in the past few days due to the enforcement of the election code of conduct.

Efficient Services and Popular Schemes

The Recurring Deposit (RD), Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS), and Kisan Vikas Patra, known for providing excellent returns, are among the most sought-after offerings from the postal department. Additionally, the National Savings Certificate (NSC), which offers tax benefits, and the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, aimed at securing the future of girl children, have gained immense popularity.

As postal officials and staff exhibit a keen commitment to implementing the Ladki Bahin Yojana, the rise in women customers seeking to open accounts is a clear indicator of the scheme’s success.

Youth Engagement on the Rise

Interestingly, the postal department is not just attracting older clients. There is a noticeable increase in interest from younger individuals, as reflected in the growing investments across various schemes. The PM Accident Insurance Scheme and the recently launched India Post Bank have received an enthusiastic response from the youth. Moreover, many have opted for the service to update their Aadhaar cards for a nominal fee, showcasing the department’s effort to cater to a broader demographic.

A Positive Shift in Financial Inclusion

“Interest in postal investments is on the rise,” stated Praful Vani, Senior Superintendent of Postal Offices in the Nashik division. “The opening of 150,000 savings accounts for the Ladki Bahin Yojana from across the district is a positive trend.”

The initiative not only encourages financial inclusion among women but also reflects a growing awareness of savings and investment opportunities in the community. As more women take charge of their financial futures, the Ladki Bahin Yojana stands out as a beacon of empowerment in Nashik
