Tony Awards 2025: Broadway’s biggest night is set to light up Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 8, as the 78th Annual Tony Awards return with an unforgettable celebration of theatre.
This year’s ceremony not only honors the best of the 2024–2025 Broadway season but also marks a historic moment for fans of Hamilton, which celebrates its 10th anniversary with a star-studded reunion performance featuring the original Broadway cast — including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Leslie Odom Jr., and Phillipa Soo.
Hosted by Cynthia Erivo, the Tony, Emmy, and Grammy-winning performer and three-time Oscar nominee, the 2025 Tony Awards will air live from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on CBS and stream on Paramount+ for U.S. audiences.
Hamilton Reunion: A Decade of Impact
First debuting in 2015, Hamilton has since become a global cultural phenomenon, with over 3,440 performances, 11 Tony wins, a Pulitzer Prize, and now a 10-year milestone moment. The cast album has broken multiple records, including 500+ weeks on the Billboard 200 and a rare Diamond certification by the RIAA. Its induction into the National Recording Registry this year further cements its legacy.
The reunion performance is expected to be the emotional highlight of the evening. In addition, Goldsberry will cohost the pre-show, The Tony Awards: Act One, streaming live for free on Pluto TV from 6:40–8 p.m. ET.
Front-Runners at the 2025 Tony Awards
While nostalgia and celebration fill the evening, the awards themselves are set to showcase new favorites. Leading the pack:
Best Musical – Maybe Happy Ending
This critically acclaimed and emotionally resonant show is the odds-on favorite to win Best Musical, with bookmakers giving it an 88.9% chance (1/8 odds). The musical has captured hearts with its tender narrative and fresh direction, quickly becoming the standout hit of the season.
Best Actor in a Musical – Darren Criss
Darren Criss is the frontrunner in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category for his powerful turn in Maybe Happy Ending. With odds at 2/5, he’s the heavy favorite, ahead of competitors Jonathan Groff (5/1) and Jeremy Jordan (7/1).
Best Actress in a Musical – Nicole Scherzinger
Pop star and stage powerhouse Nicole Scherzinger is slightly favored to win Best Actress in a Musical for Sunset Blvd., with odds at 4/6. However, Audra McDonald remains a strong contender at 2/1 for her acclaimed role in Gypsy, making this one of the night’s most closely watched races.
What to Expect from the Show
The 2025 Tonys will feature performances from this season’s top musicals, tributes to legendary shows, and surprise appearances by Broadway royalty. With live broadcasts returning to full audience capacity and the theatre industry thriving post-pandemic, this year’s show promises high energy, emotional speeches, and show-stopping performances.
The event is produced by Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, in collaboration with White Cherry Entertainment.
