US Election Update: Nevada officials are busy counting in-person ballots cast on Election Day, and while the final results are still pending, the state has already seen a lot of activity. The last voter in Nevada cast their ballot at 9:45 p.m. local time, according to Clark County Registrar Lorena Portillo. Officials are working hard to tally all the votes, and Portillo confirmed that they will start processing mail-in ballots in Clark County on Wednesday.
Nevada’s Secretary of State, Francisco Aguilar, said that there were no major issues during the election process. However, he noted that around 11,000 ballots still need to be verified. Many of these ballots are facing challenges because signatures did not match what authorities have on file. Aguilar explained that some young voters had difficulty signing their names due to the digital nature of their everyday lives.
To help voters fix their ballots, the state has launched a new website, cure.nv.gov, where people can go to “cure” or correct their signatures and ensure their votes are counted.
As Election Day results continue to roll in, the race between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris remains tight. With Nevada’s ballots still being counted, the state could play a crucial role in the final outcome. Stay tuned for more updates as the election results unfold.
