Veterans Day Parade 2024: As the nation prepares to honor its military heroes this Veterans Day, communities across the United States are organizing events and parades to recognize the sacrifices made by veterans. Among the highlights this year is the 2024 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, featuring Arizona sports legend Luis Gonzalez as a grand marshal.

Phoenix Veterans Day Parade: Honoring Service and Sacrifice

The 2024 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, set for Monday, will honor veterans with a theme of “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans: Sacrifice Remembered.” The event will feature seven military veterans as grand marshals, representing different eras of service, along with Arizona Diamondbacks legend Luis Gonzalez. Starting at 11 a.m., the parade will begin on Central Avenue near NPHX Church, making its way south on Central, east on Camelback Road, and ending on Seventh Street at Indian School Road.

David Hunt, a Vietnam veteran and grand marshal, emphasized the importance of remembering those who didn’t return. “Fifty-eight thousand never made it home, so anytime I can shed light on honoring them, I’m all for it,” Hunt said.

Rosa Regalado, a retired Staff Sergeant who served nine tours in the Army and Navy, will represent the Afghanistan War. Regalado spoke of the unique challenges faced by women in the military, especially balancing service with family responsibilities. “It was not easy being a female in the service, especially having children and having to leave them,” she shared.

Gonzalez, known for his game-winning hit in the 2001 World Series, expressed his gratitude for the chance to honor veterans. “This is an opportunity for the people that live here in Phoenix to say thank you for everything that they’ve done for us; they’re unsung heroes,” he said.

Honoring Veterans Nationwide: Events in New Hampshire

Across New Hampshire, various towns are also hosting Veterans Day events. In Jaffrey, a parade will step off at 10:40 a.m., followed by a ceremony on the town common. Lebanon’s parade begins at 11 a.m., circling Colburn Park with a ceremony to follow.

Manchester’s JROTC Wildcat Battalion will host a parade on Elm Street starting at 10 a.m., while Rindge will hold a service at the Cathedral of the Pines at 10:45 a.m., dedicated to WWII veteran Leslie P. Tallirico. Stratham will have an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Veterans Garden in Stratham Hill Park, and Swanzey will honor veterans at West Swanzey Church at 11 a.m.

These events reflect a deep commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform. Whether you’re in Phoenix or New Hampshire, this Veterans Day offers a meaningful opportunity to show appreciation for our nation’s heroes.
